How we collect, use and protect personal information.
1. Our commitment
AJ Law Professional Corporation (the "Firm") is committed to protecting the personal information of clients and website visitors in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) and the Rules of Professional Conduct of the Law Society of Ontario, which impose a duty of confidentiality on lawyers that goes beyond privacy legislation.
2. Information we collect
Through this website we collect only the information you choose to give us through the contact form: your name, email address, telephone number (optional), the area of law you are asking about, and your message. Our web server also records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages visited, which is used for security and to keep the site running.
3. How we use it
We use the information you send us to respond to your enquiry, to check for conflicts of interest before agreeing to act, and, if you become a client, to open and manage your file. We do not use your information for marketing, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
4. Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add web analytics in future, this policy will be updated to describe it.
5. Disclosure
We disclose personal information only with your consent, where required by law or by a court order, or to service providers (such as our email and web hosting providers) who process it on our behalf under confidentiality obligations. Client information is further protected by solicitor-client privilege.
6. Safeguards and retention
We protect personal information with appropriate physical, technical and administrative safeguards. Enquiries that do not lead to a retainer are kept only as long as needed to respond and to maintain our conflict-check records. Client files are retained in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario's record-keeping requirements.
7. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected, subject to the limits set by law and by our professional obligations. Requests, and any questions or complaints about this policy, may be sent to the Firm's privacy officer, Ajay S. Praveen, at office@ajlawcorp.ca. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
